Our Mission

The Youth Running Series provides the youth of Nova Scotia with an opportunity to engage in running at all levels as a means to a healthy, active and positive lifestyle.

YRS offers races in distances from 0.5 km to 2.2 km and encourages participation by those of all abilities.

Although the series is for youth, parents, guardians or anyone interested in taking part are welcome to run or walk our events!

Our History

The Youth Running Series (YRS) volunteers are a group of appreciative runners and parents who have benefited from running and support the spirit of the running community.

YRS was launched in 1996 by volunteers and the participating Race Directors, with the backing of Run Nova Scotia (RNS).

Diversity Inclusion

Youth Running Series follows the guidelines from the Athletics Canada Policy on Transgender and Gender Diversity Inclusion:

Grassroots Competitions - for local competitions, fun runs, and other athletic events that are geared towards participation rather than performance (e.g., any domestic competition that is not sanctioned by World Athletics or World Para Athletics), athletes shall be able to compete in the competitive category in which they identify. There shall be no restrictions placed on transgender or gender-diverse athlete participants.
