  • Categories are based on “end-of-year” age. The U stands for UNDER, so if your child turns eight before the end of the year, they are not UNDER 8.

See the age category chart on our home page.

  • Bib pick-up opens 1.5 hours before the first race and closes 30 minutes after the first race.

See the race-day schedule on the events page for approximate times.

If you are a full-series member who got their six bibs before the start of the season, you should be at the start line for warmup 10 minutes before your race.

Allow time for parking and bib pick-up if you are a single-race participant or a full-series member who does not have their complete set of bibs.

  • All of the race distances (and lap counts) are posted on our home page in the age category table. Every cross-country race is well-marked, and amazing volunteers keep you on course. Our awesome sweeper runs every race to ensure no one is left behind!

Races on the track are counted with popsicle sticks, which is explained at the beginning of each race.

Just listen for Chris to tell you where and when to warm up!

  • Adults are allowed to run in the U6 races; however, please be mindful of the small kids running and allow plenty of room for them to finish through the finish line gantry. For the U8 and above, we ask parents to refrain from running and rely on the volunteers and sweeper.

There are always exceptions, and we understand! If your child is uncomfortable running alone or needs assistance, that's okay.

We also offer two FREE fun runs during the season. All are welcome

to participate in our sensory-sensitive 1 km runs at Gorsebrook and Scary Beazley. The Fun Run is a great opportunity to see what YRS is about!

  • Did you know the Youth Running Series (YRS) board members are all volunteers? We love sharing the joy of running with youth. In addition to the board, we also rely on volunteers at each race. Many great ways to help throughout the day include registration, finish-line helpers, and course monitors. Please get in touch with us if you would like to help.
